Flex Selection

Flex refers to the amount of bend that a shaft has. A more flexible shaft will help the club "whip" through the ball, creating greater clubhead speed and more distance. This works well for golfers with slower swing speeds. Golfers that swing the club hard and fast will lose accuracy if the shaft is too flexible and should get a stiffer shaft

To determine what is best for you, look at the chart below

Woods

Driver Carry Distance (How far the ball goes in the air, not including the roll) Shaft Flex
250+ yards Stiff
210 - 250 yards Regular
180 - 210 yards Senior
Less than 180 yards Lady

Irons

5 Iron Carry Distance(How far the ball goes in the air, not including the roll) Shaft Flex
170+ yards Stiff
150 - 170 yards Regular
135 - 150 yards Senior
Less than 135 yards Lady

If your distance falls right at the cut-off for one flex or the other you have two options.
1)If you are looking for more distance go with the more flexible shaft.
2)If you are looking for more control go with the stiffer shaft.
